RAM transmission loss with updated sediments

63 Hz · the same RAM solver, comparing the historical fixed bottom with registered source-aware geology-first sediment inputs
678Juan total
678Juan included
0Juan excluded
4H10 separate
All 678 eligible Juan H01W1 rows are included; none were excluded. H10 is a separate four-case validation group. Positive new − fixed TL means more transmission loss and therefore lower modeled received level for the same source. Median changes are +3.21 dB for Juan and +9.80 dB for the separate H10 cases.

Juan TL methods versus range

The original 678-row comparison, now with source-aware RAM added. Use the toggles above to isolate series.

RAM TL distribution

Overlaid row counts; fixed and source-aware results use the same solver and cohort.

Change from updated sediments

New source-aware RAM minus historical fixed-bottom RAM.

Change versus range

Screening reference minus new RAM

Signed convention: named comparison TL minus source-aware RAM TL.

Bottom acoustic inputs

Historical fixed value versus each path's median source-aware value. These are inputs, not fitted corrections.

Actual bottom queries used by completed 63 Hz computations, not a generic sediment atlas
Old fixed bottom used in the historical RAM runsNot route- or date-measured; the same tuple was used at every bottom range sample. A map would be spatially uniform.
Compressional speed1668.5 m/s
Density1.813 g/cm³
Attenuation0.74 dB/λ
The old fixed bottom appears above and has no map because it never changed with location. The two map modes describe the new calculation. "Database texture class" is the source label, such as muddy sand. "New source-aware acoustic rule" shows how OceanAcoustics converted that evidence, including mixture fractions, into c, density and attenuation for RAM. H10/H08 class presets are operational scenarios. H03 global-unclassified is an explicit fallback, not regional ground truth.

Definitions and limits

Spherical: 20*log10(exact H01W1 WGS84 range/1 m) + 0.0035 dB/km * range_km. TL-light: delivered Juan historical screening field, provenance retained. TL-fast zero: untuned project exact-H01W1 tl_fast with zero absorption. TL-fast/Ainslie: same untuned tl_fast plus 0.0035 dB/km.

This is the same RAM model with updated sediment inputs. It does not fit a correction, prove attribution, or establish out-of-sample prediction.
