Technical companion
Identity, checks and evidence
This companion records exactly what was compared, how the four interactive comparisons follow the accepted comparison-table visualizer, and which claims remain outside the result.
Scientific identity
One endpoint sensitivity experiment, two separate cohorts
- Receiver: H01W1 hydrophone.
- Frequency: 63 Hz for all primary comparisons.
- Source depth: 6 m.
- Quantity: coherent RAM transmission loss at the exact receiver endpoint, in dB.
- Changed input: only the temporal representation of temperature and salinity from GLOBAL_ANALYSISFORECAST_PHY_001_024.
- Held fixed within each row: source and receiver geometry, bathymetry, bottom, RAM numerics, endpoint bracket and extraction.
- Pilot: four primary paths. The July sentinel is excluded from pilot classification.
- Follow-up: twelve prospectively frozen primary paths, one per calendar month. No reserve was used.
Visualizer and validation
The report reuses the accepted two-way comparison design
- Type:
derived.comparison_table. - Visualizer:
visualizer.comparison_table.v1. - Four instances are shown separately: pilot P1D minus P1M, pilot PT6H minus P1D, follow-up P1D minus P1M, and follow-up PT6H minus P1D.
- Each instance has a square paired-value scatter with identical axes and an equality line.
- The second view plots the declared signed difference against exact WGS84 source range.
- Both views share one selected case and expose exact values, time, range, match keys and source table.
- Static tables show the same values when JavaScript is unavailable.
- The report introduces no new scientific type or visualizer.
Numerical checks
- Pilot: 18 of 18 solves and raw fields verified. Six monthly values reproduced exactly.
- The two extreme pilot daily-minus-monthly pairs reproduced exactly in the confirmatory repeat.
- Follow-up: 36 of 36 solves and raw fields verified. Twelve monthly values reproduced exactly.
- All exact PT6H inputs, selected times, hashes and prepared environments were preserved in the source packages.
- No RAM call or ocean download was made to build this report.
Interpretation boundary
Observations do not yet choose among the model fields
The report-source review found no tight subsurface profile match for the two declared extreme follow-up paths. The closest useful Argo profile for primary_10 was about 46.7 km from the path and 41.3 hours after the event. Primary_11 had no useful nearby profile. Hourly or four-hourly IMOS/Himawari SST can assess surface consistency, but not the full sound-speed profile.
